Lori Ann Williams, 34, and Hugh Forbes were charged with breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act. They are to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today when bail applications will be made.
The charges against the two clerks stemmed from allegations that they have been collecting money to process divorce petitions.
The police were called in to investigate corruption at the Supreme Court Registry and have been conducting investigations for the last 12 months. The investigations resulted in Williams being held in a sting operation at a restaurant on King Street last Wednesday, while Forbes was escorted by the police from the Supreme Court building.
They are being represented by attorney-at-law Terrence Ballantyne.
Bar ass'n asks for help in 'Berry' case
The Jamaican Bar Association has expressed regret at the violent circumstances under which attorney-at-law Berriston 'Berry' Bryan was killed at his home in Stony Hill, St Andrew.
"We are aware that the full circumstances of his death are now the subject of investigation by the police and we urge all who have information to give their fullest cooperation and assistance," the association said in a release yesterday.
The association said Bryan's death was a reminder that no one was immune from the scourge of violence. It also noted the urgent need for the immediate and underlying causes of the social decline and deterioration of law and order to be addressed.
