The widow of Greg Gordon, affectionately called 'Farmer Greg', said she had not yet come to grips with his death.

"I have not slept since him dead and even our four-year-old daughter took sick and is under medication after she hear that her father was killed,'' said Nadine Gordon.

Gordon, who is left to care for the four-year-old and their four-month-old daughter, said the hurt she feels numbs her so much on the inside that she has yet to shed a tear.

Gordon, 32, was shot and killed on his farm about 10:30 p.m., on May 29, while tending to his pigs.

"I still don't come to grips (with knowing) that he is dead. It's like he is going to come home and that is very hurting as only five months ago we get married and he did not even live to see our anniversary,'' Gordon said.

Government Support

While saddened by the passing of her husband, she is thankful for the interest shown by Prime Minister Bruce Golding, who promised to support thefarm venture.

She told The Gleaner on Monday that Golding said the Government would be assisting with fencing the property and providing adequate lighting and security for the farm.

According to her, Golding also promised to have the farm provided with at least three tons of animal feed each week to assist in caring for the more than 500 pigs on the farm.

Example to the young

During a visit to the farm at Christian Pen, St Catherine on Friday, Golding told the young pig farmers who worked for Farmer Greg that their former employer must be held up as an example to young people of what they can achieve if they are prepared to work hard. He instructed theRural Agricultural Development Authority to work with the farmers to put in place the structure needed to ensure that the operations continue to benefit both Farmer Greg's family and the employees.

In the meantime, the St Catherine South police have charged Gordon's 23-year-old brother, Magnus Mullings of Watson Grove, Portmore, St Catherine, with his murder.
