Hillel Academy helps 'clothe' Salvation Army

The Hillel Academy Foundation has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of linens and clothing to the Salvation Army in Kingston. Last Wednesday, John Williamson and his team from the Salvation Army collected sheets, towels, pillows, bedspreads and clothing. The items were in excellent condition and will assist the Salvation Army to raise funds for their many causes, as well as to provide for some of the homes and centres they operate.

The Salvation Army operates thrift shops in Kingston and Montego Bay which fund both their drug and alcohol rehabilitation and feeding programmes, which provide 500 meals per day, five days per week in downtown Kingston to the poor and the homeless.

The Salvation Army plans to retain a portion of the donated linens and clothing for disaster relief. Williamson thanked Rachael Henriques, executive director of the Hillel Academy Foundation, for the donated items.

Hillel Academy is a private, co-educational, international school that provides a continuous educational programme from pre-kindergarten through high school and the pre-university international bacca-laureate sixth form.
