FORMER CHAMPIONS Duhaney Park and Rae Town booked their quarter-final spots in the Western Union-sponsored Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Jackie Bell Knockout following tight victories yesterday.

At Baldwin Crescent, a 40th-minute strike from Jermaine Bowers, who did well to control a left-sided pass, fired home for Duhaney Park as they beat Constant Spring 1-0.

In the day's second game, Rae Town outscored Brown's Town 2-1 at Vauxhall High School.

Hughall Lawson in the 16th minute and Donald Foster in 39th scored for Rae Town. Ricardo Clarke got Brown's Town's consolation goal in the 64th minute.

Missed chances

In the game at Baldwin Crescent, both teams missed several chances.

The last two of the game came from both sides in the final few minutes. Kambari Dixon of Duhaney Park, with only the keeper to beat from inside the area, fired over the bar, while Andre Brown, a substitute for Constant Spring, found himself unmarked in the six-yard box, but his shot went wide.

Christopher Russell, coach of Duhaney Park, said it was a hard-fought victory for his team.

"The conditions were really poor, so we had to put players out there that we knew would fight, tackle and do all the necessary work," Russell said of the soggy field.

In the quarter-finals, he anticipates a tougher game against Digicel Premier League outfit Waterhouse.

"We will have to plan very hard and get our physical condition up and hope for the best," he said.

Needed to 'score goals'

Constant Spring's coach, Danny Lyn, said his team did not do what was needed "to score goals".

"We got about eight or nine chances," Lyn said, while claiming that Duhaney Park benefitted from "scrappy marking".

Premier League teams Waterhouse, Tivoli Gardens, Boys' Town, Arnett Gardens, Meadhaven United and defending champions Harbour View will join the action in the coming quarter-final round.
