  • Committed Marshall

SINCE HIS debut in 2000, Tyrone Marshall has become one of the most important players in the Jamaican team.

Capable of playing almost anywhere in defence or midfield, the challenge is often to find the position where he serves the team best. He has featured at left wingback, right wingback, central defender and central midfield. What is refreshing is his professionalism and com-mitment to the national cause.

Marshall, who plays in MLS for Toronto FC after a successful spell with the LA Galaxy, is a former St George's College Manning Cup representative playing in a more attacking role.

One of Marshall's greatest moments in the national colours was a fantastic strike against Caribbean arch-rivals Trinidad and Tobago in Jamaica's first game of the Final Round of qualifying for the Korea/Japan World Cup at the National Stadium in Kingston. Trinidadian 'keeper Shaka Hislop had no chance.

  • Defender Davis

CLAUDE DAVIS is a mountain of a man similar in stature and style to his long-time defensive partner Damion Stewart, with whom he has pro-gressed through the different age group teams into the national one. He is a decent tackler and is very good in the air.

For a long time, he was viewed as the natural suc-cessor to the veteran Ian Goodison as the rock of the Jamaican defence.

He went some way in justifying the expectation placed on him and could learn even more from the lion-hearted veteran if he manages to force himself into the starting team.

In the past, he was more impulsive and known to make rash challenges. His sojourn in the United Kingdom has matured him somewhat.

  • No-nonsense Stewart

DAMION STEWART is strong, quick, athletic and uncom-promising defender who is sometimes likened to those of the old-school because of his no-nonsense approach and willing-ness to clear his lines.

He has played at wingback but is most suited for a central defensive role, a position he has played in the age group teams where he formed a partnership with Claude Davis.
