Pulse's model search down to dazzling dozen

As the world celebrated the election of the first black United States president last week, the contestants in Pulse's reality TV series, Caribbean Model Search (CMS) got caught up in their own electoral fever.

In a drama filled episode, Raquel Smith and Jodi-Ann Richards openly cast their ballots against some of the other girls vying for the CMS title. The outspoken Smith seemed to object to nearly all of the other contestants, in particular, Krystina Black.

"We're all 'frenemies', but she is one of the main hypocrites," said Smith. "All she does is listen to music on her iPod and keep to herself! She just comes across as too quiet, mean, and I don't like her. She needs to be eliminated."

Picking arguments

Krystina emphasised that she was there to win the reality title and not to make friends. Kannigia Buckle remarked "she's mean because she listens to her iPod? That is such a stupid argument and it seems that the real problem is that you know your time is running out so you are picking irrelevant arguments".

"You are the one that needs to leave," she told Smith.

The judges, Pulse CEO Kingsley Cooper, Pulse General Manager Romae Gordon and social scribe Chester Francis-Jackson quieted the contestants and proceeded with eliminations. In the end, it was the vibrant pair of Shereece Cowan and Jelissa Myers who got the axe.

CFW designer Mutamba made a special appearance and presided over the 'All Wrapped Challenge' last week where the remaining chic set - Venice Barnes, Krystina Black, Renae Blackwell, Kannigia Buckle, Shawnette Evering, Karneila Livingston, Jodian Myrie, Tasha Kaye Myers, Crystal Patterson, Jodi Ann Richards, Taneisha Sinclair and Racquel Smith - were charged with capturing their essence of beauty while having their limbs bound by fabric from Mutamba's eclectic international collection. The girls had to execute the fashion challenge while perched precariously on a ladder.

In tonight's episode at 9 p.m. on CVM TV, the girls hit the campaign trail, become 'spokesmodels' for a hot leather brand and display some of their additional talents in an improv session.

The Caribbean Model Search is presented by Pulse in association with Toyota Jamaica, Samurai Investments, CVM TV, the Hilton Kingston Hotel, Eye Q Optical, HYPE TV, Splashjamaica.com, Jamrock magazine, Ocean Style, SHE Caribbean, ZIP FM and The Gleaner.
